Estimating Manager (Projects Division)

Location: Camberley (Hybrid Role)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time

Recruitment Company: Red Sky Personnel on behalf of a leading international company specialising in geotechnical and civil engineering services.

Main Purpose of the Job:

Red Sky Personnel is seeking an Estimating Manager to lead a team of estimators and estimating engineers in securing new projects for the Projects Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive budgets, cost advice, and formal tenders while ensuring timely submissions aligned with the Division's strategy and overall business procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the divisional estimating team, ensuring all leads and tenders are recorded and tracked on Salesforce.
  • Propose and implement tendering strategies, leading weekly tendering meetings.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, promoting further pipeline opportunities.
  • Identify new business opportunities and increase the frequency and value of revenue-generating tenders.
  • Coordinate with the Divisional Business Development Manager and Commercial Manager for comprehensive tender submissions.
  • Oversee the preparation of tender price schedules and ensure that cost plans are accurate and aligned with project requirements.
  • Manage customer communications throughout the bid process to build long-term relationships and encourage repeat business.

Key Tasks:

  • Conduct initial reviews of opportunities and complete the Go/No-Go process.
  • Lead divisional estimating meetings, ensuring effective communication and actions are completed on time.
  • Oversee the review of engineering options and tender documents to evaluate all relevant information in the bidding process.
  • Coordinate multiple estimates simultaneously, providing input for financial reporting on a monthly basis.
  • Manage and develop the divisional estimating team, providing coaching and mentoring as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Extensive experience in estimating management within the civil engineering sector, specifically on projects valued at £100M+.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with NEC Contracts and integrated reporting systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on detail and strategic oversight.
