Independent Living Partner

My client is seeking an Independent Living Partner to provide essential support and management for their Independent Living Schemes. This role is crucial in ensuring that their customers, particularly older people, receive excellent housing-related support, enabling them to live independently and safely in their own homes. The successful candidate will manage tenancy, leasehold, and scheme management issues, ensuring high standards of welfare and safety are always maintained.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide intensive housing management services for both rented and leasehold properties, including customer inductions, viewings, allocations, and managing low-level anti-social behaviour.
  • Apply tenancy law effectively, assisting customers in sustaining their tenancy/lease by providing advice on rights and responsibilities and taking early intervention actions when necessary.
  • Manage local alarm systems, ensuring all equipment functions effectively and liaising with monitoring providers to maintain up-to-date customer data and welfare information.
  • Conduct regular inspections of communal areas and schemes, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and managing estate contracts.
  • Monitor budgets, including service charges, and maintain financial regulations.
  • Engage with customers to involve them in decisions affecting their services and encourage participation in community activities to enhance cohesion and wellbeing.
  • Assess and monitor residents’ needs continuously, providing support and advice, and making referrals to internal or external services as needed.
  • Respond to safeguarding concerns in line with policies, working with relevant authorities to ensure customer safety.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships across teams and with external agencies to enhance service delivery.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Practical knowledge of housing management including health and safety, void and allocations management, and anti-social behaviour management.
  • Understanding of current housing legislation and statutory guidance.
  • Experience in risk assessments and delivering customer-focused services.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations empathetically.
  • Full driving licence with business insurance.
  • Subject to a DBS check.
