We are an award-winning company and one of Europe's leading designers and manufactures within the engineering sector. We employ over 220 staff in the UK and Overseas and are seeking a Software Developer with a couple of years of industry experience to join our but IT team.The role will offer a competitive salary of up to £46k, working Monday to Thursday 8:30 -5:00 and 8:30-2.30 on Fridays with hybrid working on offer. Our offices and manufacturing site based in Frimley have expanded substantially over the last decade and so we can offer a stable employment with plans for further growth. The successful candidate will work within a team of 7 which includes the IT Manager and will work closely with our Lead Software Developer to develop and maintain our range of systems to ensure they continually meet business requirements.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Support and development of our existing key applications using the following tools:• EFACS E/8: Standard toolset, Java, JavaScript, Hibernate, Wildfly and Mozilla Rhino.• BIRT: Report development using Eclipse Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT).• SSRS: Report development using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.• Microsoft SQL Server: Support and maintenance of the database servers that underpin our applications.• Git: Maintenance of software projects in our GitHub repositories.• BarTender: Maintaining labelling and supporting systems.
Undertake project management tasks such as the following:• Manage, assess, and report on project activities to meet deadlines.• Inform and work with other users.• Use of Jira and Confluence for tracking work and projects requested by business stakeholders.
To be successful for the Software Developer role, you will possess the following essential criteria:• An HNC/HND or higher in a computer related discipline or equivalent relevant experience.• Hands-on coding with JavaScript.• Knowledge of SQL and SQL Server.• Minimum of two years software development experience within a commercial working environment.• Version control software such as Git, SVN, CVS.• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle.• Requirements gathering, analysis, definition and user sign-off.• Solution design including assessment of multiple solution options.
