Part-time Finance Assistant (25 hours per week)

Cambridge (office based)

£28,000-£33,000 per annum, pro-rata

We are currently working with a leading Cambridge technology company who are seeking a Finance Assistant to join their finance team on a part-time basis (25 hours per week). This role is ideal for someone with a passion for finance and numbers, and who is looking for a part-time opportunity with the potential for increased responsibilities.

Day to day duties:

  • Working within a small finance team, monitoring invoices, expenses, statements, and credit notes, and entering them both manually into the softeare package.
  • Handle queries and prepare payment runs.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts to statements and process expenses.
  • Record daily accounting transactions to the manual cashbook and reconcile bank accounts monthly.
  • Conduct daily online banking.
  • Process sales expenses and manage petty cash transactions.
  • Scan, copy, and file documents, post payments, and allocate against customer and supplier accounts.
  • Assist with VAT returns.
  • Collect and present sales data monthly, rollover investments, and cover for other finance team members during absences.
  • Assist other members of the Finance team as required.

Skills and qualifications

  • Previous accounts experience (with ideally a thorough knowledge of double entry bookkeeping).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a small finance team.
  • Flexible attitude with the ability to work across finance roles.
  • Good Excel spreadsheet knowledge and happy to work with manual elements.
