Woodventurers is a local term time alternative education provider working in Cambridgeshire and surrounds. We are a group of educators who believe that with the right education programme, all children can succeed. Our aim is to re-ignite a passion for learning by facilitating interesting, enjoyable learning experiences. We regularly see that learning in a calming, natural setting allows our learners to thrive. Therefore, we focus on improving mental health, well-being and academic achievement through Forest School based Outdoor Learning. Sessions are run in our woodland sites in Hardwick (Cambridgeshire), Grafham and Chatteris. We also work on school sites in and around Cambridgeshire.

As a Woodland Tutor you will be required to deliver Woodland Learning sessions following a planned programme of work. You will be working alongside other staff members teaching individuals or small groups of children in an outdoor environment.

Job responsibilities:

? Deliver high quality teaching to the best of your ability.

? Use observation and student review to monitor progress. ? Complete programme evaluation using feedback system.

? Attend regular in-house PD sessions.

? Ensure all safeguarding obligations are met.

? Adhere to Woodventurers’ policies and procedures.

? Show commitment to safe working practice and use of risk assessments to keep themselves and others safe

Job specificationsRequired:Have experience working with learners with SEN/SEMH and a passion for outdoor learning. Have experience teaching individuals and/or groups, ideally in an outdoor setting.Hold a current enhanced DBS certificate ideally on the update service.Be committed to the safety and welfare of those in their care and uphold all safeguardingresponsibilities.Have a clear understanding and experience of managing/ supporting challenging behaviour in a positive manner.Have the ability to support and inspire children and encourage them to engage with learning opportunities.Understand the different ways in which children learn and be able to adapt teachingmethods to meet the individual needs of each learner.Be able to build and sustain effective working relationships with learners, colleagues andfamilies (as appropriate).Demonstrate effective time management and organisational skills.Demonstrate effective administration and communication skillsDemonstrate a positive commitment to own personal development

Desirable:Significant experience working with SEN.Positive Handling qualificationsPaediatric first Aid certificate and/ or outdoor first aid

DBS registered on the government update serviceFood hygiene certificateAbility to positively influence the practice of others.Evidence of ongoing personal professional developmentForest School or Outdoor Learning qualification.
