Field Service Engineer - Scientific Instruments - Cambridge - £(phone number removed)- + Daily allowance

A key client of nGenium are looking for a Field Service engineer who is toward the start of their career. This is a hands-on role requiring fieldwork, technical problem-solving, and a commitment to learning. Comprehensive training will be provided. This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates or BTEC-qualified individuals who are passionate about fieldwork, engineering, and applied geophysics.

Technical Skills:

• Strong mechanical and/or electronic aptitude; comfortable working with complex instruments.
• Basic understanding of geophysical principles is desirable but not essential.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and has excellent IT skills
• Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g. Python) is a plus.


Key Responsibilities:

• Equipment Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate gravimeters and related instruments during field surveys.
• Field Data Collection: Conduct precise data acquisition in varying terrains and conditions, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on instruments.
• Data Handling: Manage field data, including initial processing, quality control, and reporting.
• Travel & Deployment: Travel extensively abroad and within the UK to field sites for data collection campaigns at short notice.

Education:

• BTEC Level 3/4 in Engineering, Applied Science, or related fields OR
• Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Engineering, Geophysics, Physics, Geology, Geography, Environmental Science or similar discipline.
