Purpose of the Role

The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for maximising relationships with a nominated group of UK distributor accounts. Knowledge/ experience in the agriculture crop protection industry would be an advantage.

Skills & Experience

  • Dealing with customers in all material aspects and at all levels; customer interaction, negotiation of prices, terms, and conditions within the internal framework, proposing and presenting our offer; account planning and management.
  • Knowledge of markets, competing products of the Client portfolio, and the decision-making channels of targeted customers.
  • Customer-facing qualities.
  • Familiarity with Key Account Management techniques.
  • Commercial background.
  • Direct sales experience.
  • Professional interaction with other internal stakeholders and end users such as technical managers, commercial managers, and business support.

Key Accountabilities & Success Criteria

  • Manage Key Customer Relationships: Develop necessary partnerships and enhance Organisation profile, positioning, and market penetration. Deliver well-defined customer account plans and manage expectations effectively.
  • Develop Customer Knowledge: Gain detailed knowledge of target customer strategies and share insights across the business to maximise sales and GM targets. Lead the Organisations UK team in customer interactions.
  • Key Account Planning: Create and manage key account plans for sales and future development projects.
  • Briefing Presentation Topics: Collaborate with technical and marketing departments to ensure briefing meetings are well-prepared and participate as necessary.
  • Communication of Account Activity: Provide feedback on account contacts and communication to the wider team, especially on business-critical matters.
  • Campaign Participation: Use commercial and account knowledge to support campaign teams and ensure commercial success.
  • Forecasting Responsibility: Work within the S&OP cycle with the Sales Manager to ensure accurate product forecasting and meet supply chain KPIs.
  • Manage Customer Forecasts: Collaborate with business support to manage customer forecasts and allocations.
  • Market Intelligence: Provide regular market intelligence to inform Organisations UK strategies and sales campaigns.
