About the role:
Our well-established Electronics Scanning Radar and Sensor Solutions client is looking to recruit a Project Engineer to contribute to the delivery and development of radar systems and projects. The role involves;
- System-level design, architecture, and Installation.
- Supervising and assisting with radar development trials and customer demonstrations.
- Implementing and delivering completed solutions.
- Working hands-on with radars and supporting systems as required.
Candidates should have some systems engineering experience, with a degree or equivalent qualification in a numerate subject. Recent graduates who have completed a sandwich course, year in industry, or with other significant working experience will also be considered.
We are looking for someone capable of working on their own initiative, but who also appreciates the vital importance of collaborating and communicating effectively with other engineers and end users. Training on radars and systems will be provided, with many opportunities for hands-on experience.
You will have the following skills and abilities:
- A demonstrable ability to design, develop, analyse and think at a system level.
- The ability to create and maintain system diagrams and documentation.
- Experience working with formal system requirements.
- An appreciation of multiple engineering disciplines.
- An appreciation of project management practices and methods.
- Hands-on experience with a variety of system hardware and software.
- Experience in a customer-facing role.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
You will also have some of the following:
- Experience of radar systems.
- Experience from an aerospace systems, sensors, security, or ISTAR/C4ISR/ESM domain.
- Experience or education in any of the following;
- Electrical or Electronic Engineering, and the ability to understand (and perhaps design) simple electronics.
- Software Engineering/Computer Science, and the ability to write simple software from scratch (e.g. python scripts) or amend or tweak more complex software
- Mechanical Engineering, and the ability to analyse (and perhaps design) simple mechanical assemblies.
- Experience with different computing platforms (Linux, Windows, etc)
- Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Hands-on assembly and working skills.
Location:
South of Cambridge in a semi-rural location. The requirement for occasional travel means that a driver's licence will be considered beneficial.
Requirement to travel to customer sites both in the UK (3-5 times/year) and overseas (1-2 times/year).
