Join this prestigious organisation in Cambridge in a pivotal role as a Senior Cloud Engineer / DevOps Engineer. This position part of a high-profile international project with significant impact on global research. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-performance computing systems and collaborate with top-tier academic and research institutions. Technically you will bring experience of managing cloud computing solutions, Linux systems, Kubernetes (FluxCD, ArgoCD and Helm), Scripting experience (Python, Bash, Perl or similar). This is a fully hybrid role, with the occasional need to visit the Cambridge site as and when, plus they have 1/4 planning meetings where you will be needed for a few days.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Integrate and optimise complex system components to support international research agendas.
  • Plan and lead development activities, understanding the whole system and managing sets of related activities.
  • Work closely with other disciplines and stakeholders to deliver project objectives.
  • Supervise and mentor junior colleagues and initiate medium-term projects that add value to stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement methodologies to enhance system performance, scalability, and stability.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with key stakeholders from partner institutions and academic research groups.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer or in a similar role, preferably in a research or academic setting.
  • Strong background in systems design, integration, and solution architecture.
  • Expertise in managing systems development projects, including both predictive and adaptive approaches.
  • Ability to provide specialist advice and lead the adoption of methods and tools for system development.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data-oriented decision-making.
  • Experience with continuous integration and automation tools is highly desirable.
