Job Title: Senior Engineer (Night Shift) - Highways

About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to support a highways project in Cambridge, working night shifts starting in early May. This is a crucial role on a major infrastructure scheme, with an initial contract of 4 months and strong potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate a team of engineers and subcontractors during night operations.
Oversee site activities with a focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery.
Lead and support setting out activities as required.
Ensure drainage and surfacing works are carried out to spec and standard.
Maintain accurate site records, QA documentation, and progress reports.
Liaise effectively with project management, client representatives, and other stakeholders.
Solve on-site technical issues swiftly, maintaining momentum on the programme.
Essential Experience:
Demonstrable experience in a Senior Engineer role within highways projects.
Strong technical knowledge in drainage and surfacing.
Proven ability to manage multiple engineers and subcontractor teams.
Experience with setting out using GPS, Total Station, and traditional methods.
Familiarity with DMRB and highways construction standards.
Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
Desirable Qualifications/Certs:
HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
CSCS (Black or White Card), SMSTS, and First Aid (desirable).
Previous night shift experience on highways projects.
