An established modular business are looking to recruit a Design Manager. The role will be based in their Cambridge office.The role: To ensure products and projects are designed and built to conform to all client and regulatory requirementsMaintain and design processes in line with company QA systemsTo manage the hire enquiries and projects using own and pooled resourcePRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESManage all the production design workloadManage all outsourced design teams effectivelyPrioritise and programme workload in line with project programmesEnsure all tenders/quotations have full design appraisalDesign processes and procedures to be followedEnsure deadlines are met for each project to an agreed quality level and on time in fullDevelop and find new materials when required that add to our product offeringsWhen required assist in reviewing Pdoc/CP's and drawings to ensure all are correctDesign role in support, development and product cost reduction for PP IBSAttend factory project launch meetingsSend out in a timely manner project drawings to relevant sub-contractors for quoting and pass on to operations to raise the orderTo ensure buildings comply with current building regulations and other statutory requirements (including building bulletin for schools, HTM's for health care and codes of practice etc) where requiredAttend launch meeting with hire and production teams internallyTo liaise with clients (either by telephone/site visits etc) and other internal staff as appropriate on queries relating to drawings/production details etcPrepare production drawing and design information (site fix lists, details etc) for issue to production departmentsLiaise with external sub-contractors on designs and provide technical assistance where required to resolve any potential conflicts to ensure that their works are compatible with our buildingsWhere necessary to liaise with Local Authorities / architects / clients etc in order to obtain Building Regulation & Planning approval for schemesTo prepare drawings and technical information for hire sales managers, production drawings for issue to the factory and site details for our operations teams (site installation) by using AutoCAD Revit to produce accurate, high quality plan drawing/elevations/specifications etc, where possible providing these solutions utilizing either buildings or units from our existing hire fleet to meet the clients' requirementsWhat you will do:Negotiate best price and understand requirements.Developing relationships with key clients.Researching materials, equipment and labour costs.Gathering quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers.Negotiating improved supplier prices.Assessing the levels of risk on a project.Preparing and submitting quotations for work.The Person:EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAININGDesign management experienceAutoCAD experiencedCommercially aware Modular build and traditional build knowledge essentialGood communication skillsModular/Timberframe/SIP Panel experienceIf you feel that you have the correct skills for this role then please forward CV's to Adam Shaw on Email on the link provided
