Our client a well-established and growing specialist and multi-disciplined surveying consultancy who are looking for a Principal Designer to join their growing team on a hybrid/remote basis in Cambridge.

The Principal Designer will be operating as a key member of the team as they will be the main contact between clients, designers and contractors in regards to health and safety issues. They will be ensuring health and safety compliance and that CDM regulations are met to ensure the delivery of new build and refurbishment education projects.

Principal Designer Position Overview

  • Liaising and communicating with clients, contractors, Building Surveyors, architects and more to offer advice and guidance on CDM/health and safety issues
  • Assisting with the preparation of health and safety/CDM documentation for contractors, clients and others such as Health and Safety Files
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and to keep them informed of issues on your projects, at all times.
  • Attending pre-contract, and other site meetings and carry out independent H&S site audits / inspections
  • Bringing together all information on how to run the project and ensure Health and Safety guidelines are met
  • Project Management duties

Principal Designer Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-4 years' experience within a similar role
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent/higher
  • Relevant HNC, HND, BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in a construction-related topic
  • Good knowledge and understanding of appropriate legislation
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Living within commuting distance of Cambridge
  • Happy to travel as required

Principal Designer Position Remuneration

  • Salary: £40k - £50k (Guide only-DOE)
  • Holiday Allowance: 25 Days + Bank holiday + 3 Days Christmas
