Role: Developemnt Technician 

Location: Cambridge 

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum + great company benefits 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Development Technician to join a rapidly growing team for a company based in Cambridge

Day to Day of the role:

  • Assemble and test optical modules.
  • Construct test rigs and prototypes in collaboration with design engineers.
  • Procure materials and parts for development projects.
  • Perform cable assembly, soldering, and in-house part creation using hand tools or manual mill and lathe.
  • Conduct trials on test rigs and prototypes.
  • Contribute to the creation of build and test documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures in collaboration with the Health & Safety department.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the R&D department as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum ‘A’ level education in an engineering discipline.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in precision instrumentation development.
  • Competence in machining, cable assembly, soldering, and clean assembly for optics and microfluidics.
  • Experience in an electromechanical assembly, test, or repair environment.
  • Organised, resourceful, and capable of working independently.
  • Adaptable and a good team-worker in a project-focused environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
