They combine proprietary production processes with protein engineering technology to tackle fundamental biological and scale-up challenges for the fast-growing stem cell, organoid, regenerative medicine, and cultured meat sectors.  A spin-out from Cambridge University founded in 2016, they have already attracted a loyal customer following from leading biotechnology companies and world-class academic institutions.Role SummaryThis is an exciting opportunity to join the team as they rapidly grow Qkine globally. Reporting to the CFO, you will develop and manage the efficient running of the finance function, implementing and ensuring compliance with appropriate controls. You will take ownership of all aspects of the cash cycle, from monitoring cash flow to overseeing the purchase and sales ledger activities. You will use your business partnering skills to enable all our teams to optimise their activity and collaborate with them to prepare detailed and timely financial analysis to support the month-end, forecasting and budgeting processes.International growth - including opening a US entity - will provide opportunities to develop knowledge and experience across and beyond Europe, including the US.Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Consolidation of US subsidiary accounts
  • Inventory reporting and analysis
  • Administration of the company share option scheme, including the relevant HMRC reporting
  • R&D Tax Credit/RDEC year-end calculations, liaising with third-party advisors
  • Monthly payroll
  • Statutory returns, including annual accounts and all HMRC returns
  • Business partnering during the budget, forecasting and monthly reporting processes
Skills and experiences that will help you in the role:
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent attainment related to accountancy is essential
  • Strong and up-to-date technical knowledge
  • Experience in a similar FM role
  • Excellent business partnering and communication skills
  • Commercial approach including meeting deadlines and understanding the business’s priorities
  • Impeccable eye for detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
