Kameo Recruitment is proud to have partnered with an educational trust in Cambridge who is looking to recruit for a proactive and hardworking HR Assistant. Working within a dedicated, flexible and people focussed team, you will be providing support to the Assistant HR Business Partner with recruitment, training, employee relations and HR administration. This really is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure and hands on experience within the world of HR.

There is the opportunity to study the CIPD qualification after a successful probationary period and business demands.

Duties & Responsibilities of the HR Assistant:

  • Provide a professional HR service to Schools. This includes recruitment, training, employee relations and HR administrative support to employees and managers.
  • Provide a first line response to HR queries from employees and managers by phone and email, escalating where appropriate.
  • Offer advice to managers and staff on recruitment and on-boarding along with administering contractual documentation.
  • Support the recruitment and induction process of Senior staff including managing the interview process and acting as a key member of the interview panel.
  • Contribute to key HR and Trust-wide strategic projects with scope to collaborate with teams spanning various specialisms e.g. L&D, finance, and operations.
  • Support the Director of People and HR Business Partnering Team with all aspects of disciplinary case work including note taking, preparing documentation, and preparing invite and outcome letters.
  • Maintain the Single Central Record (SCR) ensuring employee records are up to date.
  • Develop and run specific training sessions.
  • Monitor probation, sickness absence and annual leave.

Requirements for the HR Assistant:

  • Administrative experience in either a HR / recruitment or generalist environment.
  • Passion for HR and have a willingness to study towards the CIPD.
  • Evidence of strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to organise, be proactive and plan your own workload.
  • Ideally have experience of dealing with HR queries and advising management on staffing matters including employee relations and practice.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Be able to travel to meetings across different sites.

Hours of Work: Monday - Thursday 8am - 4pm and Friday 8am - 3.30pm (with a 30minute unpaid break per day) there is flexibility in the starting and finishing times.

Hybrid Working: 2 days working from home, 3 days in the office once training is completed. More flexibility for working at home in the school holidays

Location: Cambridge, with the requirement to work across the Trust and to travel between sites.
