Hays are working with a top 10 firm, who are looking to recruit an Indirect Tax Manager, Cambridge, based with flexible and hybrid working.

About the Role:

As governments shift from direct to indirect taxation, businesses face complex VAT systems. You will join a team working with clients from a variety of sectors helping them navigate these challenges and take control of indirect tax. These sectors include financial services, insurance, property, international supply chains, consumer business, healthcare, TMT, not-for-profit, and education.

Your Role:

  • Join a friendly, diverse Indirect Tax and VAT team.
  • Manage the scoping, delivery, and billing of client work, ensuring compliance with risk management processes.
  • Guide junior staff and support Directors and Partners.
  • Provide accurate VAT advice, backed by knowledge of legislation, case law, and technical analysis.
  • Tailor your business writing to different recipients and explain complex issues simply.
  • Use Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
  • Produce technical work that requires minimal review.

Requirements:

  • Experience in indirect/VAT taxes from advisory or in-house roles.
  • Level 4 tax or accounting qualification (e.g., ATT); CTA qualification (indirect tax route) is a plus.
  • Manage a varied portfolio of indirect tax clients.
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead projects in a mixed-discipline team.
  • Experience advising on complex UK tax issues is beneficial.
