What will you be doing?

This is an analytical and scientific role which works to ensure the security of supply of upstream resources, in terms of quantity, quality, current and long-term view depending on the situation.

Your role will involve working with a number of key internal and external stakeholders where you will work both tactically and strategically to respond and develop plans for managing Drought for groundwater and surface water resources.?

You will ensure surface water and catchment risk assessments are fully investigated and updated. You will also be responsible for making recommendations for business decisions, escalating risks and delivering key actions.

The successful applicant will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Lead and enable the production of hydrological modelling, analysis and information; required for the preparation and delivery of the Anglian Water Drought Plan, reservoir refill curves or reviews of energy costs.

  • Provide water resource seasonal forecasting and monthly situation updates, in a timely manner, with recommendations to the business.

  • Present findings and updates on their projects or actions to mitigate risk at relevant forums or information required for senior leader events (e.g. NDG, Water UK, WRE).?

  • Investigate and collate responses to regulator (e.g. Environment Agency, DWI), council (e.g. Planning applications or abstraction points in proximity to council structures), customer or wider business queries linked to hydrology and raw water resources (e.g. flooding, abstraction potential or hydrological impact assessments to support abstraction licence conditions).

  • ?Support the delivery of Water Resources & Drought and wider business strategies as a key subject matter expert (e.g. Production Planning, Strategic Reservoirs, Nitrates and other raw water quality concerns utilising trend and prediction analysis for surface water sources).?

What do you need?

  • Degree in Earth/Environmental Sciences/Geography or equivalent.?

  • Technical experience in managing hydrological risk assessments.

  • Experience undertaking hydrological modelling/forecasting.?

  • Experience with data management & analysis.?

  • Catchment level understanding of hydrological behaviours.?

  • Ability to prepare high quality written technical reports and propose new approaches to successful delivery of these.

  • Develop, maintain and use specialist hydrology modelling packages.?

  • Effectively manage key internal and external stakeholders.?

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders.?

  • Effectively manage the delivery of projects.?
