Care attendant

Location: CambridgeSalary: £22,900 - £23,500 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Care attendant to join a well-established Facilities and Estates team at a Cambridge-based educational institution. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary, along with a range of staff benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

General Maintenance

  • Assist in maintaining the physical condition of buildings, furniture, and equipment.
  • Carry out cleaning and janitorial tasks as needed.
  • Conduct routine checks and address additional cleaning requirements.
  • Assist with distribution of post, packages, and deliveries.
  • Monitor heating systems and report faults.
  • Replace light bulbs and tubes as necessary.
  • Report specialist repair needs to the line manager.
  • Supervise tradespeople and contractors on-site.
  • Clear blockages and ensure safe access during adverse weather conditions.
  • Maintain care-taking equipment and provide emergency cover as needed.

Site Security

  • Assist in securing buildings and ensuring authorized access.
  • Control lighting, windows, and internal doors.
  • Report any unauthorized persons on-site.

Porterage Duties

  • Arrange and clear furniture and equipment for exams and events.
  • Assist with moving furniture and deliveries.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Act as a Fire Marshal and support emergency procedures.
  • Maintain high health and safety standards.
  • Undertake electrical safety testing and water testing/flushing.
  • Conduct driver assessments for college vehicles.

Customer Service & Staff Development

  • Maintain high standards of customer care.
  • Support the organization's values, policies, and procedures.
  • Take part in appraisals and professional development activities.
