An esteemed college in Cambridge is seeking a dedicated English Lecturer to deliver high-quality teaching and facilitate learning. This role involves teaching Functional Skills and GCSE English to learners enrolled in a construction course, catering to a range of abilities from Entry Level to Level 2.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for Functional Skills and GCSE English.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives.
  • Assess and record students’ progress and provide grades and feedback.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the college’s procedures and encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work, and homework.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by college regulations.
  • Participate in departmental and college meetings, parent meetings, and contribute to the development of the department and the college.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A degree in English or a relevant subject.
  • A teaching qualification or the willingness to work towards one.
  • Proven experience of teaching English at Functional Skill and GCSE Level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Passion for English language and literature, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
