Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Management:

  • Assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing daily operations and ensuring smooth functioning.
  • Act as the Nursery Manager in their absence, taking full responsibility for the management of the nursery.
  • Support the recruitment, induction, and ongoing training of nursery staff.
  • Lead and motivate staff to provide the highest standard of care and education.
  • Conduct regular supervision, appraisals, and performance reviews of team members.

2. Childcare and Education:

  • Ensure the nursery delivers a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for all children.
  • Plan and implement educational programs in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of all children.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff in planning and delivering activities that encourage children's development.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and hygiene in the nursery setting.

3. Parent and Family Liaison:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and families, acting as a point of contact for any concerns or queries.
  • Ensure effective communication with parents regarding children's development and nursery activities.
  • Organize and participate in parent meetings and workshops to support family engagement.

4. Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure the nursery meets all statutory and legal requirements, including safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation and ensure that policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure appropriate actions are taken to mitigate risks.

5. Administrative Duties:

  • Assist the Nursery Manager in managing budgets, resources, and financial planning.
  • Oversee staff rotas, ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
  • Keep accurate records of childrens progress, attendance, and other relevant information.
  • Handle enquiries and support the recruitment of new children to the nursery.
