Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Cambridge
Contract: 6 months (with the potential for extension)
Hours: 37 hours per week

  • Monday to Thursday: 07:15 to 15:45
  • Friday: 07:15 to 12:15
    Pay: 19.12/hour (PAYE) or 26.04/hour (Umbrella)

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join a leading engineering company specializing in deployable infrastructure projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality assemblies for specialist projects.



About You:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter.
  • Previous mechanical assembly experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Confident using hand tools such as spanners, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, and electric power tools.
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards is beneficial.
  • Strong technical understanding.
  • Competent in reading and interpreting assembly drawings and instructions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical fitting and assembly tasks using engineering drawings and design specifications.
  • Bring experience from the automotive or heavy industries to deliver high-quality assemblies.
  • Use a range of tools, including torque wrenches and electric power tools, with precision.
  • Collaborate with production managers to meet project deadlines and stay within budget.
  • Engage in continuous improvement processes, including lean manufacturing and 5S practices.
  • Report equipment and tooling needs promptly.
  • Attend production meetings when required.


Requirements:

Due to the nature of the role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Eligibility for BPSS Clearance.
  • Ability to provide a 3-year employment history.
  • Undergo a CRB Check and Address Verification.
