We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a dynamic team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be involved in the assembly of mechanical systems, working hands-on with steel structures and ensuring precision in line with project standards.
Candidates must be able to provide 3 years' worth of employment references and must be eligible to obtain basic security clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform assembly, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and components.
- Mark out, drill, and tap steel structures for precise assembly.
- Work hands-on with steel structures, following engineering specifications.
- Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on various mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications accurately to ensure precision.
- Utilise hand and power tools effectively and safely.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure all work meets industry standards and project requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to meet deadlines and resolve technical issues.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar mechanical role.
- Skilled in marking out, drilling, and tapping, particularly with steel structures.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
- Strong hands-on experience with hand and power tools.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Relevant mechanical engineering qualification or apprenticeship (preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Prior experience within a defence or manufacturing environment is advantageous.
