Mechanical Fitter

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a dynamic team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be involved in the assembly of mechanical systems, working hands-on with steel structures and ensuring precision in line with project standards.

Candidates must be able to provide 3 years' worth of employment references and must be eligible to obtain basic security clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform assembly, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and components.
• Mark out, drill, and tap steel structures for precise assembly.
• Work hands-on with steel structures, following engineering specifications.
• Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on various mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies.
• Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications accurately to ensure precision.
• Utilise hand and power tools effectively and safely.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure all work meets industry standards and project requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to meet deadlines and resolve technical issues.
• Adhere to health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar mechanical role.
• Skilled in marking out, drilling, and tapping, particularly with steel structures.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
• Strong hands-on experience with hand and power tools.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Relevant mechanical engineering qualification or apprenticeship (preferred).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
• Prior experience within a defence or manufacturing environment is advantageous.
