Salary: £12,950 per annum (£12.46 per hour)
Hours: Permanent, part-time position, averaging 20 hours per week (includes weekend working; flexibility required)
Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays pro rata

About the Role:
We are looking for a polite, friendly, and hardworking Catering Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support the catering department in providing a comprehensive service to fellows, alumni, students, staff, and guests, including formal dining, cafeteria service, and high-end functions such as weddings and events. No prior experience is necessary as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a welcoming and professional presence in all catering areas
  • Assist in setting up rooms for catering services
  • Help run the cafeteria and dining hall
  • Provide refreshments for meetings and bar services for events
  • Operate tills and record meals accurately
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, following risk assessments, allergen labelling, and COSHH guidelines
  • Ensure cleanliness in all catering areas, including reporting maintenance issues
  • Assist with deliveries, stock rotation, and cellar maintenance to minimise wastage
  • Polish cutlery, glassware, and crockery
  • Support in maintaining the security of silverware and other valuables
  • Assist with stock takes and the cleaning rota

General Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the organisation’s training and appraisal scheme
  • Ensure your own health and safety in the workplace
  • Fully comply with organisational policies, including equality and data protection
  • Carry out any additional tasks as required by the department
