Data Scientist
Cambridgeshire (Hybrid)
Permanent Role: £75k Plus Package
We have partnered with a bespoke technology practice who are seeking a Data Scientist to work alongside business stakeholders to develop and implement methods for their product development pipeline, from concept and development to product launch.
Responsibilities of the Data Scientist:
- Develop and implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms for variant calling, MRD detection, and hybridization probe optimization in NGS datasets.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to provide data insights that enhance assay performance and contribute to strategic decision-making.
- Automate and optimize data processing pipelines to improve efficiency, ensure reproducibility, and maintain high standards of data quality across NGS analyses.
- Maintain rigorous documentation, version control, and reporting for developed software and workflows, supporting transparency and clinical standards.
- Stay current with advancements in computational genomics and bioinformatics, applying new tools and methods to continuously enhance data analysis capabilities.
Requirements for the Data Scientist:
- Experience in the development of statistical and machine learning methods (TensorFlow, PyMC , PyTorch, sklearn and/or SciPy tools desired
- Scientific software development experience (essential, proficiency in one or more of Python (strongly preferred), C, C++, or R)
- Prior experience of processing, analysis and interpretation of NGS data (essential)
- Must have the ability to work independently and take ownership of development of models and statistical analyses
- Strong communication and stakeholder management experience
- Familiarity with standard software engineering tools such as Jira, Git or CI/CD
- Knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL for managing and querying large datasets
