Graduate Town PlannerLocation: Cambridge

My client, a leading Planning & Heritage consultancy based in Cambridge, is looking to attract a talented and ambitious Graduate Town Planner to join their expert team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate with a passion for planning to start their career within a dynamic and supportive environment.

As a Graduate Town Planner, you will play an integral role in assisting the team with a variety of planning services, ranging from planning applications to heritage advice. You'll have the chance to work alongside experienced Chartered Town Planners and other experts within a multidisciplinary property consultancy, gaining valuable exposure to projects across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, and the surrounding areas.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and submitting planning applications, appeals, and feasibility studies.
  • Support with planning appraisals, identifying opportunities and tackling constraints for development projects.
  • Help provide pre-planning advice to clients, ensuring the best strategy for their planning needs.
  • Engage with a range of clients, including property companies, landowners, farmers, and private individuals, providing guidance on the planning process.
  • Work alongside architects, technical consultancies, and other departments to deliver seamless planning services.
  • Stay up-to-date with planning regulations and legislation, contributing to the continuous improvement of the consultancy's services.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (or working towards one).
  • An enthusiasm for planning and the built environment, with a keen interest in development and heritage issues.
  • Strong communication, research, and analytical skills.
  • A proactive and collaborative attitude, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Experience or knowledge of planning software, although not essential, would be beneficial.
