Ideally you will have some experience within a logistics based role. However, if you’re keen to learn on the job and have great organisational, administration, analytical and advanced Excel skills with good geographical knowledge of the UK, then we want to hear from you.

LOCATION: The company is quite flexible on location. However, they’d ideally like candidates to be based in East Midlands or East Anglia

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Trainee or experienced Assistant Logistics Manager who has excellent organisational, administrative, analytical, Advanced Excel and communication skills with a good geographical knowledge of the UK.

As the Assistant Logistics Manager you will work with the Procurement Team, reporting to the Senior Logistics Manager.

As the Assistant Logistics Manager you will manage and coordinate purchasing of all items bought for resale and to supervise stock control to ensure the most efficient purchasing across the business.

This is a great opportunity to break into logistics, providing you are analytical with advanced Excel skills.

DUTIES

Once trained your duties as the Assistant Logistics Manager will include:

  • Ensure overall stock levels are within the ideal parameters for the agricultural, horticultural and fruit business
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of stock control as required
  • Establish what the ideal stock parameters are and which products should or should not be stocked, working with the Senior Logistics Manager on this
  • Compile and analyse stock movement and activity figures
  • Monitor and review inventory levels against planned distribution. Carry out necessary interventions to address any potential areas of concern
  • Monitor stock levels against priorities and business targets
  • Order products and service as negotiated and approved to achieve business requirements
  • Monitor and review data to ensure accuracy of records, data, pricing, stock levels
  • Negotiate best purchasing packages for authorised products
  • Attend manufacturer, depot and team sales briefings as required
  • Effective communication of all stock availability and issues are carried out to relevant teams
  • Build strong and long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders across our internal and external businesses
  • Must have a hands-on attitude to be able to work as a proactive member of procurement and planning to support horizontal integration of all initiatives

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous industry experience desirable
  • Advanced Excel skills and computer literate
  • Geographical knowledge as they will be managing stock across the UK
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Keen to work towards progressing your career
