Contract Operations Manager

Are you a Dynamic operations manager with experience in a fast paced same day delivery environment? Do you want to work with one of the largest independently owned logistics companies in the UK?

Then this is the role for you.

What will the role involve?

  • Ensure that the company service levels are achieved at all times. Be Proactive to address and resolve customer problems.
  • Manage the efficient day to day processing and delivery of freight through the effective management of driver and traffic office teams.
  • Ensure risk is effectively managed through compliance with all company policies including Health and Safety as well as operating within legal and regulatory requirements such as the Working Time Directive, Road Traffic Acts and vehicle safety. Take immediate and appropriate action when required.
  • You will co-ordinate the accident management and reporting process.
  • Control costs in line with Depot Targets. Take appropriate action to control cost where required.
  • Manage bookings and route plans across 40-60 drivers.
  • Monitor and reviews operational performance and address any issues.
  • Undertake specific projects to make a tangible contribution to the development of future plans and strategies for the company.
  • Driver recruitment actively keeping on top and maintaining pipeline for busy periods.
  • Complete annual performance review with employees and able to take action where there is persistent underperformance.
  • Provide regular communication and team briefings to drivers and depot staff (on all shifts)

What will you ideally bring to the role?

  • Experience working in a fast paced same day delivery environment.
  • Dynamic and Proactive approach to planning and management.
  • Experience looking after fleet planning and maintenance.
  • Customer facing and client management experience
  • NHS /Public Sector or Temperature controlled experience preferable.
  • Great organisation skills when it comes to planning and cost calculations.
