An excellent opportunity for a permanent, full time Production Assistant/Editor to be part of a small, successful, independent team at one of the worlds most distinguished publishing houses. Based in the city centre, you will enjoy working with a degree of autonomy while still receiving the required training, tools and support needed from experienced colleagues.

As a calm, personable individual who is passionate about publishing you will manage the production of new books from manuscript to print and eBook editions.

This role is office based, with the possibility of hybrid working being offered in the future.

Key Duties

• Maintaining production schedules• Maintaining the production database• Dealing with authors• Liaising with freelancers (editors, proofreaders, indexers, designers, translators)• Liaising with suppliers (typesetters, printers)• Processing invoices• Calculating book costings• Commissioning book covers• Handling reprints and stock management

The successful candidate will

• Be highly organised and able to prioritise a large workload• Deadline focussed • Have a meticulous eye for detail • Good written and verbal communication skills• Strong numeracy skills• Remain calm under pressure• To work well as part of a small team• To be able to prioritize from a large workload

The ideal candidate will have experience of
