Polytec are looking for a Laboratory Technician in Material Sciences for our client based in Cambridge. You will manage an annual budget for maintenance, repair and expansion of the laboratory and equipment.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain laboratory operations ensuring full potential is achieved
* Engage with users to identify future needs
* Develop specialised processes and depositions, conduct experiments and analyse and interpret results
* Offer highly specialist technical advice
* Ensure safety regulations are followed, conducting risk assessments
* Design and maintain laboratory databases for audit purposes
Requirements:
* Practical experience with materials deposition and processing technologies
* Experience with vacuum technology
* Specialist knowledge of health and safety regulations and practice
* Good IT skills
* High degree of precision and accuracy
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Good numerical skills
* Knowledge in materials deposition and processing technology
* Degree level qualification or equivalent level of practical experience
* Weekend / out-of-hours work may be required for emergency repair and maintenance
