Premier Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading company in Cambridge that specialises in electro-mechanical products. This role involves designing and developing precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components, working closely with engineering, R&D, and manufacturing teams to bring innovative products to market.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- A degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Experience in mechanical and electro-mechanical design
- Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and product assembly
- Understanding of electro-mechanical integration and product lifecycle development
- Ability to produce detailed technical drawings, GD&T, and BOMs
- Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset
- Experience working within a manufacturing or R&D environment
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Designing and developing electro-mechanical products and precision components
- Producing 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical documentation
- Collaborating with electronics, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration
- Conducting design reviews, prototyping, and testing
- Ensuring designs meet industry standards and customer requirements
- Managing multiple projects while ensuring deadlines and technical specifications are met
