Are you a seasoned mechanical design expert with a passion for turning ideas into reality? We're seeking a Mechanical Design Technician to join our in-person team in Cambridge, working at the forefront of innovation in a lab-based workshop setting.

This is a practical, hands-on role where your 3D CAD design skills and fabrication experience will directly support cutting-edge engineering and R&D projects. As part of our Experimental Design and Support (EDS) Team, you'll play a vital role in helping research groups bring their ideas to life - from concept to creation.

Responsibilities:

  • Use 3D CAD tools and hands-on skills to design, prototype, and build.
  • Lead on manufacturing and fabrication, advising teams on the best techniques and materials.
  • Collaborate closely with scientists and engineers to develop custom experimental equipment.
  • Get involved in precision engineering and experimental drilling-related projects.

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years' experience in mechanical design, engineering, or similar roles.
  • A background in industrial or precision engineering
  • Familiarity with 3D printing technologies (Desirable)
  • The ability to understand complex scientific ideas and translate them into practical, buildable solutions.
