Job Title: Cisco Wireless Engineer

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Cisco Wireless Engineer to join our team on a 12-month onsite contract in Cambridge. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Cisco wireless network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, configure, and deploy Cisco Wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions to meet business and operational requirements.
Perform site surveys, RF planning, and optimisation using tools such as Ekahau or AirMagnet.
Manage and troubleshoot Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs), Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), and Cisco Prime Infrastructure.
Provide expert-level troubleshooting for wireless network issues, performance tuning, and security enhancements.
Work closely with network engineers, security teams, and IT stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and compliance.
Implement wireless security policies, including 802.1X authentication, WPA2/WPA3 encryption, and guest access solutions.
Conduct regular maintenance, firmware upgrades, and patch management for wireless network devices.
Document configurations, network diagrams, and best practices for future reference.
Required Skills & Experience:
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise (Wireless Specialization) or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of Cisco wireless technologies, including Cisco APs, WLCs, ISE, and DNA Center.
Experience with RF design, coverage analysis, and site surveys.
Hands-on experience with troubleshooting wireless performance and security issues.
Familiarity with VLANs, QoS, multicast, and network security principles.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work onsite in Cambridge for the full contract duration.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers.
Understanding of Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) technologies.
Knowledge of scripting/automation using Python or Ansible.
Additional Information:
This role falls inside IR35, and candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
The position requires full onsite presence in Cambridge for the duration of the contract.
