Ridgeway and co are proud to be partnering with a leading residential main contractor withtheir search for a Health & Safety officer located in Cambridge paying up to 60,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Policy Development and Compliance:

    • Draft, implement, and continuously improve site-specific health and safety policies.
    • Ensure alignment with relevant laws, standards, and regulations.
  2. Hazard Identification and Risk Mitigation:

    • Conduct risk assessments and regular site inspections.
    • Identify and rectify hazards proactively, fostering a safe working environment.
  3. Training and Awareness:

    • Deliver effective health and safety training sessions.
    • Educate employees and contractors on their responsibilities and safety best practices.
  4. Incident Investigation and Prevention:

    • Investigate workplace incidents, determine root causes, and implement preventive strategies.
    • Promote a culture of reporting near-misses and learning from incidents.
  5. Record-Keeping and Reporting:

    • Maintain up-to-date health and safety documentation.
    • Provide detailed reports and updates to senior management.
  6. Collaboration and Advocacy:

    • Work closely with site managers, contractors, and external bodies to champion safety culture.
    • Ensure clear and consistent communication of health and safety issues.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Certifications:

    • NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health)certification is essential.
    • Membership withIOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health)is preferred, signaling commitment to professional standards.
  2. Industry-Specific Expertise:

    • At least five years of health and safety experience inconstruction, specifically with large-scale residential projects.
    • Deep understanding of industry-specific risks, hazards, and regulatory requirements.
  3. Skills:

    • Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills to engage diverse teams.
    • Analytical mindset for conducting investigations and implementing solutions.
