The Estates Division at the University of Cambridge is a multi-disciplinary organisation responsible for the development, management, and maintenance of the University estate, along with the provision of a variety of related services.

They very much need a permanent Communications Coordinator on their team however they have decided to approach this via Temporary to Permanent so all parties can review if it's a fit before making a final commitment.

  • Promote the activities of the Division through a variety of communication channels and engagement methods.
  • Develop content and the Division's external website and Intranet (Hive) and newsletters, including creation and editing of copy, sourcing of news articles, ensuring fresh, regular and relevant content, and liaising with the senior leadership team to plan future content.
  • Deliver website improvements and innovations in conjunction with technical specialists (in-house and external suppliers).
  • Provide advice, support and training to staff across the division who are communicating with internal and external audiences including designing and delivering media, website editing and communications skills training for colleagues.
  • Working with the University's news team to prepare responses to incoming media queries and prepare press releases for key announcements as well as providing advice and guidance on the use of the University's logo and brand.
  • Devise, deliver and evaluate campaigns and communications for key strategic programmes and projects.
  • Produce and edit video, photographic content and other designed documents and audio-visual communications to support Estates Division communications. Proofread and edit material produced by others to maintain consistency and quality in accordance with house style.
  • Manage the Divisions internal communications channels and lead communications projects including production of a range of materials to support the overall communications strategy. Act on feedback to ensure communication is insightful, effective and timely.
  • Attend weekly communication meetings and regular planning sessions.
  • Prepare project communications, monitor and report on project milestones, deadlines and deliverables, create and maintain project records liaising with stakeholders as required.
  • Build strong working relations within the Estates Division Directorate and with other key stakeholders across the University

Essential Experience:

  • Experience of working in communications, PR Role or as a journalist.
  • Experience of creating content for a variety of audiences including digital communications, written features and video.
  • Experience of updating websites using a content management system.
  • You will be educated to degree level. Qualified by Experience need not apply.

Would be nice if you had:

  • Photoshop InDesign
  • Basic video & photographic production & editing skills

Working Hours: 9-5 or 8-4. There is no parking on site, so you will need to Park at Madingley Park and Ride and then walk to the office (10-15 min walk).
