We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic Film and Media Teacher to join our partnered creative and forward-thinking Secondary School in Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with vision, energy, and a love for both the theoretical and practical aspects of Media and Film education.

About the Role:

You'll teach Film and Media Studies across Key Stages 4 and 5, helping students to explore a range of media forms, develop critical analysis skills, and gain hands-on experience in video production, editing, and digital storytelling. You'll play a key role in fostering creativity, media literacy, and independent thinking in a subject that resonates with students.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • DBS on the update service.
  • Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent
  • Has strong subject knowledge in Film and Media Studies
  • Is experienced in both the academic and practical sides of media production
  • Is confident using industry-standard editing and production software
  • Can engage, motivate, and challenge learners at all levels
  • Is passionate about helping students connect their learning to the real world

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5 (GCSE and A-Level), covering topics such as media language, representation, industry, audience, and film analysis.
  • Introducing students to a wide range of media platforms including film, television, advertising, online content, print, and gaming.
  • Teaching practical skills such as video production, scriptwriting, editing, and use of industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Photoshop).
  • Encouraging critical thinking and analysis of social, political, and cultural contexts surrounding media texts.
  • Supporting coursework and exam preparation, guiding students in research, creative projects, and theoretical frameworks.
  • Keeping up-to-date with current media trends and developments in film, digital content creation, and emerging technologies.
  • Promoting creativity, collaboration, and communication, encouraging students to express their ideas confidently through different media.
  • Contributing to the wider school community, including leading extracurricular film clubs, organising screenings, and supporting school media projects.
