Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor based in Cambridge. The successful candidate will oversee healthcare and educational projects ranging from 5 million to 30 million. With a focus on managing cost, contracts, and ensuring timely project delivery, you will play a pivotal role in project success. The role offers flexible working arrangements and an excellent benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all commercial activities across multiple projects in the healthcare and educational sectors.
  • Manage the quantity surveying team and provide mentoring to junior QSs.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including NEC and JCT contracts.
  • Prepare accurate cost reports, forecasts, and final accounts for clients.
  • Actively contribute to procurement strategies and supplier negotiations.
  • Conduct regular site visits, ensuring work is progressing to agreed budgets and timelines.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, handling any variations or changes.
  • Work closely with the project delivery teams and ensure collaboration across departments.
  • Provide senior management with regular commercial updates.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MRICS or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong track record as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in the main contracting environment.
  • Experience working on healthcare and/or educational projects.
  • Proficiency in managing projects valued between 5-30 million.
  • Excellent knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
  • Ability to manage teams and work collaboratively with various project stakeholders.
  • Strong financial acumen and commercial awareness.
