Finance Assistant

Cambridge (hybrid)

£26,000-£30,000 per annum

We are working with a Cambridge based company who are seeking a Finance Assistant to join their small accounts team, taking responsibility for a variety of monthly accounting tasks. This role is ideal for someone who is working towards an accountancy qualification and has a strong background in accounting or administration.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly management information for the Management Accountant
  • Conduct insurer statement reconciliation and settlement
  • Manage banking, cash control, and bank account reconciliation
  • Maintain Sage Accounting records and update client records with payment and settlement details
  • Assist in managing credit control, producing aged debt reports, liaising with insurers, and following up with required actions
  • Check supplier accounts and invoice settlement
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and assistance to the Management Accountant and CFO
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Ideally working towards an accountancy qualification (ACCA, AAT, or similar).
  • Experience and confidence with Excel, including handling large amounts of data, using pivots, vlookups, sumifs, etc.
  • Previous accounting or administrative experience.
  • Strong sense of integrity and excellent work ethic.
  • Methodical and systematic mindset.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Good organizational skills that promote prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills.
