Job Advert: Laboratory Technician

Our client, a leading organisation in the scientific research industry, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual driven by their passion for science and commitment to precision.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Deputy Laboratory and Facilities Manager and Senior Laboratory & Building Services Technician, regarding operational processes.
  • Responsible for waste disposal, filling liquid nitrogen tanks, distributing gas cylinders.
  • Ensure there is an adequate supply of clean laboratory glassware, moving equipment, setting up meeting rooms and assisting with general maintenance/minor refurbishments.
  • Prepare and handle samples for testing, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintain laboratory records and documentation accurately.
  • Perform purchasing duties, give advice to end users, clerk in deliveries and receipting goods.
  • Assist, when necessary, with general support duties in other Departmental Buildings to ensure effective service operations to lab users with similar duties as described below.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, or Biochemistry).
  • Proven experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in a research or academic environment.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • This role involves significant manual handling and a reasonable level of physical fitness is required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
