We are looking for a Lab Technician with a background in mechanical engineering for a Cambridge based company supporting across multiple labs with RandD and production activities. You will work closely with other members of the technical team to provide key support and guidance across a range of teaching and research areas.
Responsibilities:
* Assisting with undergraduate teaching
* Design, develop, manufacture and modify experimental equipment, protocols and techniques
* Advise on mechanical test methods and provide training and technical advice
* Maintenance of the lab - to include HandS, stock management and equipment repair
* Laboratory resource monitoring within a set budget%3B supplier sourcing, consumable ordering and processing invoices and delivery notes
Requirements
* Educated to HNC/ HND level with a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or similar practical experience
* Practical experience in general engineering research and the ability to teach / train others
* Familiar with a wide range of workshop machinery and techniques
* Ability to manufacture parts to a high degree of precision and accuracy
* Experience with CNC machinery and manual machining
* Sound IT and communication skills
