The successful candidate will be part of an English faculty whose core mission is to ensure all students leave school with a secure understanding of the English literary canon, the ability to communicate confidently through written and spoken word alike, and a critical and personal engagement with a wide range of texts. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and creative English lessons that cover literature, language and effective communication skills.
  • Foster an inclusive and stimulating learning environment where students feel confident to explore and discuss a wide range of texts.
  • Encourage students to develop critical thinking skills and respond personally and analytically to literature.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their academic development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the English curriculum.
  • Inspire students to develop a love of reading and a deeper understanding of language that will stay with them throughout their lives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required for this position.
  • A relevant degree in English, Literature or a related field.
  • Excellent classroom management.
  • Experience as an English Teacher at the secondary school level.
  • Strong knowledge of English literature, language and pedagogy.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
