Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead the Physical Education department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that focuses on sport science and is tailored to GCSE students.
  • Teach engaging and informative lessons that cater to a range of abilities and learning styles.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress and attainment of students, providing support and intervention where necessary.
  • Manage resources and facilities to create an optimal learning environment.
  • Mentor and support colleagues within the department, promoting continuous professional development.
  • Organise and oversee extracurricular activities, including sports teams and events.
  • Liaise with parents, staff, and external organisations to promote the department and its activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in Physical Education.
  • Extensive knowledge of sport science and GCSE curriculum.
  • Proven experience as a Physical Education teacher, with leadership experience being highly desirable.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate both staff and students.
