We are seeking a School & Events Porter to join our client's team and play an essential part in supporting the smooth running of their school. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to both the day-to-day operations and the success of special events in a vibrant educational setting.
Working Pattern
- Term Time:
- Monday to Friday: 6:45 am - 3:45 pm (8.5 hours per day)
- Alternate Saturdays: 7:00 am - 11:00 am
- School Closure Periods:
- Monday to Friday: 22 hours per week, typically worked over 4 days (7:00 am - 12:30 pm)
Key Responsibilities
As a School & Events Porter, you will support both academic and support departments by ensuring the smooth operation of facilities and events across the school. Your key duties will include:
Facilities Support
- Carry out general cleaning and basic maintenance tasks as needed.
- Manage litter and recycling collections across the campus.
- Deliver essential items such as bread, milk, snacks, and spreads to Boarding Houses.
- Distribute parcels and messages to colleagues across the site.
Event Support
- Set up and clear down event spaces, including the Great Hall, Music School, Old Gym, Sports Centre, and other venues.
- Reposition furniture and equipment as required for meetings, events, or daily use.
- Act as a parking marshal during events to ensure smooth traffic flow.
- Serve as the primary contact for commercial lettings on event days, delivering exceptional customer service.
Transport Assistance
- Assist with cleaning school minibuses and coordinate their servicing/MOT appointments at local garages.
Security & Safety
- Help ensure the security of school property and buildings during daily operations and events.

Safeguarding Responsibilities
Your role will involve working in an environment where safeguarding is paramount. You will be expected to:
- Familiarise yourself with the School's Child Protection Policy and adhere to safeguarding procedures at all times.
- Report any concerns regarding pupil safety or colleague behaviour to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Complete mandatory safeguarding training provided by the school.
Additional Expectations
You will also be responsible for adhering to health and safety policies, data protection regulations, and other school policies while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
