Your new school
Gretton School is an independent specialist school for children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, specifically high functioning autism. We welcome students from 5-19 years old, as weekly boarders or as day students. Based just outside Cambridge, we work with 12 counties to provide a broad and individualised education for these unique and wonderful students. The school is growing and developing, its integrated therapeutic team are working tirelessly alongside the management team and the teaching and support staff to further develop our fantastic practise and outcomes. Your new role
We require a Maths Teacher who is committed to the continuing development of our children. The successful candidate will be responsible for all planning, assessment, monitoring and the implementation of the Individual Education Plan targets for learners, to ensure pupil progress and the delivery of a high quality curriculum, including the National Curriculum suitably differentiated to meet the needs and interests of learners on the autistic spectrum. To deliver Quality First Teaching, adapted to the needs of some unique learners - we teach the way they learn, we don't expect them to learn the way we teach!

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified teacher status
  • Relevant training and / or experience in SEND and autism / communication and interaction needs
  • Strong classroom management skills with an approach that relies on strong positive relationships with the learners
  • An understanding of, or a willingness to become familiar with autism, the challenges facing autistic students and the best approaches to use when working with autistic individuals
