Brook Street are seeking a dedicated and reliable School Assistant to join our small team in providing excellent catering services within our school kitchens. If you are enthusiastic, hardworking, and have a passion for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, we would love to hear from you!

Position: Temporary School Assistant
Hours of Work:

  • Monday to Friday, Term-time only
  • 7am - 2pm

Salary:

  • 11.44 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the dishwasher machine, ensuring cleanliness and safe handling of items
  • Empty food waste bins and maintain a high level of hygiene in the kitchen
  • Assist with food preparation and occasionally relieve catering staff with additional duties
  • Prepare tables for lunch service and clear up after meals
  • Maintain cleanliness across all service, preparation, and eating areas
  • Ensure all food deliveries are checked, including temperature checks
  • Support the kitchen team with general duties as needed, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery
  • Ensure all Health and Safety standards are followed, attending relevant meetings and training sessions

General Requirements:

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Treat all colleagues with respect and courtesy, fostering a positive and cooperative work environment
  • Participate in meetings, supervision sessions, and training as required
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements

Food Service Assistant - Person Specification:

  • Previous catering experience is an advantage, though training will be provided for the right candidate
  • Good understanding of food safety and relevant Health and Safety legislation
  • Excellent team worker, reliable, and committed
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and approachable with a proactive "can-do" attitude
  • Strong food hygiene awareness
  • Able to work effectively with people at all levels
  • Understanding of child protection and safeguarding requirements
