Family Support Worker (Dari Speaking)
Salary: Betweeen £17 to 19 per hour
Location: CB2, Cambridge
Hours: Monday-Friday- 9am - 5pm
Till January 2025

Must be able to speak Dari.

Job Purpose

To welcome and support refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced people in Cambridge and the surrounding areas. This includes working in-person with individuals and families, interpreting as necessary. You must be fluent in Dari and English and have the skills to use translation services where you are supporting speakers of other languages.

To be the main point of contact for individuals and families as they settle into the community, working in partnership with statutory and voluntary organisations.

To ensure the service delivered meets the criteria of the resettlement scheme individuals and families have arrived on. This can involve navigating systems and advocacy.

To understand and assess individual needs, signposting to specialist services as needed, and motivating individuals to access services, such as health and education.

Skills

Able to adopt a sensitive approach to confidential issues
At least 2 years front line experience of working with families with support needs.
Awareness of the experiences and needs of refugees
Excellent user of IT applications including MS Office and particularly word and excel
Experience and confidence in Lone Working
Experience of working with families to access and participate in funded childcare for youung children.
Fluent in Arabic and English
Good awareness of support and statutory services available locally and how to access them
Working awareness of welfare benefits and clients entitlements
