An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactivebusiness partner to our clients' team as a Procurement Specialist in their Purchasing team. The ideal person will have excellent experience supporting commercial teams and will enjoy being part of a global business based in their Cambridge Office interacting with stakeholders and suppliers.

As the Procurement Specialist you will be working onsite three days per week. We are looking for someone adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced environment, who likes to find innovative solutions to new and existing problems.

As the Procurement Specialist you responsibilities would be to:

  • Develop and implement category plans for execution of broader strategies outlined by senior management for assigned categories.
  • Identify vendor consolidation opportunities, catalogue opportunities, and partner with the appropriate stakeholders to lead implementation efforts for these strategies.
  • Perform spend analysis based on current vendor information and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Track and report savings for each executed strategy.
  • Communicate purchasing policies and guidelines that effectively balance administrative burden, cost savings, and risk/liability.
  • Work cross-functionally within a global matrix organisational structure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Develop and implement key supplier measurement metrics.
  • Work closely with Business Partners to avoid and/or resolve project-specific procurement issues. Ensure purchasing timelines and other purchasing requirements are captured during the project planning phase.
  • Work closely with Legal, Risk Management, Finance, and Project Management to ensure timely, transparent, and professional negotiations of contracts.
  • Respond to requests promptly and be proactive in looking for potential sourcing opportunities.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to and oversee the work of junior employees, contractors/temp employees as assigned by the manager.
  • Determine appropriate use of assigned resources to achieve goals and meet schedules.
  • Participate in meetings/communications with management in support of business reviews/meetings as they relate to significant capital projects/expansions.

As the Procurement Specialist you will have:

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
  • Adaptable in fast-paced settings, capable of managing multiple tasks and driving innovation.
  • Skilled at presenting initiatives and solutions to diverse audiences, with the ability to influence and solve complex problems.
  • Typically requires considerable related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or some related experience and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
