Position: Commissioning Manager - Water

Our client is a Tier 1 D&B Contractor operating predominately in the water industry, who have been awarded a 1.2 Billion programme of work to deliver over 800 infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for Anglian Water.
They have a new vacancy for a Commissioning Manager for the Cambridge Relocation Project (CRP) who will provide the required commissioning planning for the project, build the MEICA and process commissioning team and then drive all electrical, mechanical and process commissioning to completion. Initially you will be based in Peterborough but then full time on site in Cambridge once construction is fully underway.
The Project:
The Cambridge relocation project is the design & build of a modern, low carbon waste water treatment plant to provide vital services for the community and environment which will recycle water and nutrients, produce green energy and help Greater Cambridge to grow sustainably.
Known as the Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) Relocation Project, Anglian Water will work with their partners to help deliver this fantastic opportunity for the Greater Cambridgeshire area. The relocation would make the site of the existing WWTP available to form part of the development of a new low-carbon city district, known as North East Cambridge. The site at Cowley Road, is Cambridge's last major brownfield site, and the wider North East Cambridge district proposals envisage creating around 8,350 homes and 15,000 jobs over the next 20 years.
Key responsibilities in the role will include:
- Integrated planning of commissioning within the multi-disciplinary project team during the design phase.
- Day to day delivery of, or management and coordination of, all commissioning activities.
- Effective engagement with client and operational staff.
- Ensure the effective integration of assets into the existing works without detriment and risk to service level agreements.
- Achieve fast and effective handover (including the timely delivery of all commissioning documentation, training, etc).
- Develop and operate an optimised interface with the project engineering team to ensure "design for commissioning".
- Prepare training plans, organize specialist training by equipment suppliers and personally deliver training where appropriate.
- Facilitate feedback of improvement information from commissioning.
- Encourage and manage off-site testing and pre-commissioning activities by suppliers or others.
- Ensure Commissioning is carried out safely in accordance with regulations and procedures.
- Ensure all necessary Commissioning documentation is produced in a timely manner and co-operate with Technical Documentation teams to ensure timely delivery of O&M manuals.
- Drive efficiencies and operate tight change control procedures.
- Monitor, measure and report on performance within the project and drive continuous improvement.
- Develop and improve commissioning processes and systems.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant degree (electrical, mechanical or process) or other relevant qualification
- Experience of commissioning wastewater treatment processes
- Experience of managing small teams of people at site level.
