KO2's client, an innovative company based in Cannock, is seeking a talented Embedded Software Design Engineer to join their R&D team. They specialize in designing cutting-edge communication devices for home control systems with advanced Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. As part of an independent, internationally-supported R&D business, this role offers a dynamic environment to contribute to exciting new projects.

Role Overview:

As a Embedded Software Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and enhancement of our client's communication systems. The embedded software engineer will work closely with ARM-based microcontrollers and leverage their expertise in embedded C programming. Your responsibilities will include understanding complex systems, including board-level schematics and hardware functions, to ensure comprehensive product testing and development.

The position offers an opportunity to be involved throughout the entire design process, from initial concept to final manufacture. You will be the sole software developer, collaborating with the R&D manager and a small team, to maintain and innovate test and application code.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize embedded software in C.
  • Work with ARM-based microcontrollers, particularly the STM32 family.
  • Integrate Bluetooth and WiFi systems into broader applications.
  • Utilize bus systems such as RS232, I2C, SPI, etc.
  • Engage in bootloader support and real-time operating system integration.
  • Employ graphical user interface tools for testing and debugging.
  • Use hardware tools such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and JTAG debuggers.
  • Create detailed documentation, including requirements profiles and architecture diagrams.

Skills & Experience:

  • A degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Proven experience with embedded software development.
  • Familiarity with development tools and transferrable skills.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
