About the Role

We are seeking an empathetic and skilled SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to support students facing social and emotional challenges. You will work closely with teachers to create a positive, nurturing environment that promotes students' emotional well-being, resilience, and academic engagement. You'll provide tailored assistance to help students manage their emotions and behaviours, empowering them to achieve personal and academic growth. You will be patient, understanding, and dedicated to supporting students' holistic development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students individually and in small groups, adapting learning activities to meet unique social and emotional needs.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies and support students in developing positive coping skills.
  • Promote a calm and safe classroom environment that encourages trust and mutual respect.
  • Monitor and record student progress, sharing insights with the teaching team and parents as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create consistent support strategies and interventions.

Desirables:

Experience is desired but not essential although you must have a passion for working with children in education.

The ability to drive is desired but not essential.
