QA Manager / Fresh Produce / Kent

We are working with a leading fresh produce grower and packer and are looking for an additional team member - a QA Manager & Technical Assistant- to join their dedicated team. If you're passionate about ensuring quality and have a keen eye for detail, this could be your perfect role!

Job Overview:

As the QA Manager & Technical Assistant, you'll oversee the Quality Control team and ensure all products meet their high standards. You will work closely with the General Packhouse Manager, taking on technical tasks and occasionally deputising for the Packhouse Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the Quality Control team.
  • Liaise with production and grading teams to ensure proper product handling.
  • Ensure all products meet compliance standards and perform quality assessments.
  • Monitor and improve production operatives' performance through training and feedback.
  • Manage packing/production specifications and maintain a label database.
  • Ensure hygiene standards are upheld and pest control is managed.
  • Prepare for technical and management meetings.
  • Conduct internal audits and analyse monthly shelf-life reports.
  • Investigate customer complaints and manage root cause analysis.
  • Handle external calibration checks and quality control visitors.

  • Experience: Production and quality environment knowledge with an understanding of fresh produce specifications.
  • Skills: Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to manage and lead a team
  • Flexibility: A dynamic, can-do attitude, able to adapt to changing tasks.
  • Qualifications: Level 2 Hygiene and food safety awareness, Level 2 HACCP.
